Arne Slot joked that Liverpool’s under-8 side should be ready to make their debuts for the first team given the amount of injuries his squad have endured this season.
Slot lost goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili to an injury in the second half of the Merseyside derby, but it did not stop Liverpool securing bragging rights after Virgil van Dijk’s late headed winner.
Mamardashvili was taken to hospital after the game but Slot is unsure how long the injury could keep him out for.
“Is there anything that surprises you when it comes to injuries this season?” the Liverpool boss said.
“Maybe I already envisaged this because I had two goalkeepers on the bench today which I usually don’t have but it of course has everything to do with the availability of other players.
“Freddie (Woodman) did a great job. Giorgi had to go to hospital. A big wound. So let’s see how he will be but Freddie deserves a lot of credit because if you have to come in just after conceding the 1-1 and the fans were ready for it, but he did his job really well, kept his calm in a difficult moment.
“Usually third goalkeepers don’t play a lot but in a season like ours, I think if you are playing in the under-8s of Liverpool you should be ready for making your debut because it’s unbelievable what’s happening to us.”
Beto had equalised for Everton following Mo Salah’s opener, but Slot hailed the character of his side to come back and win.

“I think in the lead up to this game, it was not so much about the league table but also what we represent in Liverpool,” he said.
“Four days ago we paid our respect for the enormous tragedy that happened at Hillsborough but we also use this for the game today, because it’s a privilege to represent this club and today they showed what it means and the fans were a big, big support for us.
“To beat them in the first derby at their new stadium after the week we had is an enormous compliment to everyone involved.”
