One Liverpool star is ready to do something drastic in order to leave the club this summer.

Calciomercato.com claims Federico Chiesa is willing to take a paycut in order to force a move out of Liverpool this summer. Chiesa has been heavily linked with a move away after barely featuring for the second straight season.

In fact, Chiesa has largely been linked with that move since arriving. January 2025 saw questions asked and a move in the summer of 2025 looked inevitable.

Instead, the Italian winger remained with Liverpool - to much surprise. A fantastic start to the season didn't materialise to consistent minutes and now it would be genuinely shocking if Chiesa didn't leave after this season.

One massive problem has been an unwillingness to take a paycut, with Italian clubs unable to match his wages at Liverpool. That's an issue that now looks resolved as Chiesa is now willing to accept less money in order to get out.

Chiesa, then, can be added to the ever-growing list of exits at Liverpool this summer. One who, in many eyes, never really got the chance he should have.

Federico Chiesa: Situation Summary

Liverpool Performance and Stats

As of 5 May 2026, Federico Chiesa’s debut season at Anfield has been largely peripheral. The 28-year-old winger has made 24 Premier League appearances but managed only one start, logging a mere 281 minutes. While he has scored three goals across all competitions—including late strikes as a substitute—he has struggled to integrate into Arne Slot’s tactical setup. Most recently, he made a three-minute cameo in the 3–2 defeat to Manchester United on 3 May, having been an unused substitute for several prior fixtures. He currently maintains a modest FotMob rating of 6.27.

Transfer Speculation

Reports from 5 May indicate that Chiesa is "almost certain" to leave this summer. He is reportedly willing to take a significant pay cut to secure a return to Italy, with Napoli and Roma showing interest. Liverpool have allegedly set an asking price between £22 million and £26 million.

International Standing

Chiesa's fitness remains a major concern for Italy. He was dropped from the recent World Cup qualifying play-offs in March due to "physical problems," and his limited club minutes have cast doubt on his readiness for the 2026 World Cup this June.
