Liverpool have submitted an official £35 million bid to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.

The proposal is a flat fee with no add-ons and is now under consideration by Palace, who have not yet issued a formal response.

The England international is open to a move if the two clubs reach an agreement before the transfer window closes on Monday.

Talks between Liverpool and Palace have been described as cordial, with both clubs maintaining a positive relationship throughout negotiations.

Palace manager Oliver Glasner has made clear his desire to keep Guehi, particularly with so little time left in the window.

But the club faces a difficult decision as the defender enters the final year of his contract and has no intention of signing an extension.

Allowing him to run down his deal would risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.

Liverpool’s interest comes after Jarell Quansah was sold to Bayer Leverkusen for £35m earlier this summer.

That departure left captain Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate as the only senior centre-backs in manager Arne Slot’s squad.

Konate is out of contract in 2026, and talks over a renewal have not advanced.

Guehi has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most reliable defenders since joining Palace from Chelsea in 2021.

He has made 155 appearances for the Eagles and captained the team to their FA Cup victory over Manchester City last season.

He also played a key role in England’s run to the 2024 European Championship final. He has earned 23 senior caps.

Palace chairman Steve Parish has previously said only ‘superstar money’ would prise away their captain, but the looming risk of losing him for nothing has altered the dynamic.
