It is no secret that Real Madrid have made the signing of Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold a top priority for the summer transfer window.

The Merengues intend to reinforce the right-back position before next season and have made the England international their main target.

The fact that his contract with Liverpool is set to expire at the end of the season makes him a hugely attractive prospect.

Alexander-Arnold rejects Liverpool offer

Earlier this week, reports in Spain suggested that the deal to bring Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid is already 99% done.

Corroborating those claims, an exclusive report from Caught Offside states that Alexander-Arnold has rejected a new contract offer from Liverpool and appears all set to accept Real Madrid’s proposal.

The report further iterates that the agreement between Los Blancos and the England defender is 99% done already.

Liverpool have been intently working to tie Alexander-Arnold down to a new contract. Manager Arne Slot is understood to have tried his best to convince the 26-year-old to accept the renewal proposal but his efforts have proven futile.

Alexander-Arnold could not resist the prospect of signing for one of the biggest clubs in the world as he enters the peak years of his career.

There was tentative interest in Alexander-Arnold from Barcelona and Bayern Munich as well, but Real Madrid have come out on top and if nothing changes, they will add Alexander-Arnold to their already star-studded squad come summer.

With Alexander-Arnold likely to end up at the Santiago Bernabeu on a free transfer in the summer, it could lead to the possible exit of Lucas Vazquez.

The 33-year-old veteran’s contract expires in the summer and if Alexander-Arnold arrives, he will fall behind the Englishman and Dani Carvajal in the pecking order, making his renewal a non-priority for Real Madrid.
