Liverpool are moving closer to a blockbuster agreement for RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande.
Liverpool have some major moves to make. In fact, they’ve just added a need for another one - in the dugout.
Arne Slot has left the club, opening the door for a new head coach at Anfield. Who that will be isn’t clear, though we feel very confident with our own understanding.
Some moves, however, are unchanged by any head coach. That includes picking the superstar to replace Mohamed Salah up top and Liverpool are all-in on Yan Diomande as an option.
Teamtalk suggests they’ve taken a significant step towards a deal, too, by communicating that they’re prepared to pay around the €100m RB Leipzig would want. It’s a fee we don’t actually imagine Liverpool wanted to pay heading into the summer but circumstances have changed.
For one, Anthony Gordon is off the table. He was a brilliant option for Liverpool but now he’s gone to Barcelona, leaving Liverpool to consider a new plan.
And it appears that plan is to simply pay the asking price for Diomande. There really isn’t a better option this summer and if he truly is available, perhaps the club should just meet the demands.
It sounds as though they’ve come to that decision. It’s a giant step towards a deal - something that could now make the Diomande saga move quickly.
Leipzig Campaign and Stats
As of 31 May 2026, Yan Diomandé has concluded a sensational debut domestic campaign with RB Leipzig. Arriving from Leganés last summer, the explosive 19-year-old Ivorian winger quickly established himself as one of Europe's most exciting teenage talents. Across the Bundesliga season, Diomandé recorded 2,476 minutes on the pitch, racking up an impressive 12 goals and providing eight assists. His clinical finishing and elite dribbling on the flank were vital in securing Leipzig's return to Champions League football, earning him the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season award.
Transfer Battle and Record Valuation
Diomandé's spectacular performances have ignited an intense transfer battle ahead of the summer window. Liverpool have made the young winger a priority target as they look to bolster their attacking options following a fifth-place Premier League finish. The Merseyside club has reportedly edged ahead of Paris Saint-Germain by promising the teenager a starting role. However, securing his signature will require an astronomical fee, with Leipzig demanding at least €100 million to part with their prized asset.
