A key FSG figure met with a world-class attacker who is on Liverpool's transfer radar.
Liverpool are heading into what could be one of the most important summers in the club's modern history. This isn't simply about bringing in a few new signings or appointing a new manager - it's the start of a completely new chapter at Anfield.
The departure of Arne Slot has forced the club to rethink its direction, and the appointment of Andoni Iraola signals exactly where Liverpool want to go next. Rather than looking for a like-for-like replacement, the Reds have chosen a coach with a very different vision of how the game should be played.
Iraola has earned a reputation for building energetic, aggressive teams that press relentlessly, attack with real intensity and thrive in transition.
His style demands players who are physically exceptional, tactically disciplined and willing to work tirelessly both in and out of possession. It's an approach that can be hugely effective, but only if the squad is built to execute it.
That is why this summer is about far more than changing the man in the dugout.
Liverpool are effectively reshaping the club from the ground up.
Recruitment will be driven by a different set of priorities, with the club likely to target players who can meet the physical and tactical demands of Iraola's football rather than simply adding established names.
The changes are unlikely to stop there. Training methods, tactical principles and even the overall identity of the team are expected to evolve as Liverpool enter a new era.
Ultimately, Iraola's success won't just be determined by what he does on the touchline. It will depend on whether Liverpool can build a squad capable of playing the brand of football he wants.
The decisions made over the coming months could shape the club's future for years to come, making this one of the defining transfer windows in recent memory.
However, not everything is shaping up in the way Liverpool would want it to be.
The club's main target, Yan Diomande turned down a move to Anfield in favour of Paris Saint-Germain.
Attention has now turned to Bradley Barcola, who is viewed as an ideal alternative to Diomande. However, any move is far from straightforward. Paris Saint-Germain's willingness to consider Barcola's future could depend on whether they complete a deal for Diomande first, leaving Liverpool waiting on events outside their control.
PSG at this moment in time also look unlikely to sanction a move for Diomande, with RB Leipzig very much expection to keep their prized asset.
Could that signal a change of heart from the Ivorian?
Who knows but it is significant that Diomande was spotted meeting with a key FSG figure, LeBron James, recently. During his time off, Diomande posted a photo of himself on Instagram alongside the basketball icon.
LeBron is a key advisor and a stakeholder in Liverpool. He met Diomande during a Roc Nation event, hosted by the Ivorian's agency.
Could there have been discussions about his future in this meeting? Who knows, but LeBron will have hopefully at least tried to persuade Diomande to change his mind.
