Liverpool appear to be moving away from the idea of signing Alexander Isak this summer, looking instead at a new possible solution to bolstering their attacking options for the upcoming season.
It has long been understood that signing two strikers was imperative and while Isak fits the club's needs perfectly, he looks to be unavailable this summer, as Newcastle are struggling to replace him.

As such, the best move might be to wait until January, since Hugo Ekitike is currently performing well on his own in the role, and if Isak is still yearning for a move to Merseyside when the January transfer window opens, then try again. His price tag may also drop over the next few months.
While that's all on hold, however, the Reds still have just over a week to consider a different type of fix to strengthen Arne Slot's squad and we're slowly getting details about what that might mean.
According to intel from Sky Sports News, captured by a fan who recorded part of the broadcast, the Reds are looking to broaden their talent pool of potential targets to help across the attacking line.
Journalist Mark McAdam said: "Liverpool are in the market for an attacker, not a striker - they would like to sign a player that can play as a No. 9, potentially as a No. 10, as a wide forward.
"They are looking for someone that can play in multiple positions, not necessarily someone that is just purely an out and out No. 9, like Alexander Isak is."
This would open up for the floor for a new winger, likely to be left-sides since Federico Chiesa has now committed his future to playing alongside Mohamed Salah on the right-wing, for this season at least.
As such, Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumoha might have someone else to compete with - an understandable decision given the teenager is still just 16 years old and will be thrown into the deep end otherwise. Luis Diaz brought £65m to the club from his transfer, the money is available.
Liverpool would then have a lot of players to reconsider, such as Malick Fofana at Lyon, Ademola Lookman at Atalanta and Rodrygo at Real Madrid, all players to have been linked with the club.
The cheapest of the lot would be the Belgian, since the French side are staring down the barrel of financial repercussions if they fail to get their affairs in order before the summer window closes.
Then, the Nigerian talent in Lookman might be considered, although his likely involved in AFCON this summer makes his transfer a difficult one, since he too would be missing a period of the season alongside Salah, so his role of supplementing the team this season would be limited in the winter.
But Rodrygo, however, would be the galactico both that could revolutionise the team for the next decade, since he is still just 24 years old and he's regarded as a world class talent at Real Madrid.
