Liverpool unlikely to buy right-back cover after Conor Bradley injury

Liverpool have been hit by another setback, with Conor Bradley sidelined for the rest of the season after a knee injury at Arsenal last week. The club are unlikely to buy right-back cover this month.

According to NY Times, after the losses of Giovanni Leoni at centre-back and Alexander Isak up front, Liverpool did not seek cover, and a similar stance is likely over Bradley.

Bradley’s return depends on surgery and his recovery. He has not been ruled out of the World Cup if Northern Ireland qualify. Liverpool hope he will be back for the start of pre-season, and the club would not make a permanent addition for such a brief period.

In his absence, Jeremie Frimpong and Joe Gomez can deputise. Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones are also able to operate there if required.

Liverpool appear set to keep their powder dry for the next market, with Ibrahima Konate on track to leave when his contract expires and no breakthrough on new terms. With Virgil van Dijk and Gomez out of contract 12 months later, central defence will be an area of focus.

Similar may apply to Mohamed Salah’s position. He is fully expected to finish the season at Anfield, with hopes he then settles and sees out his deal to June 2027. If problems remain, talks about parting ways early are possible.
