Liverpool will not look to find a replacement for Hugo Ekitike in this summer’s transfer window.
Ekitike is not expected to return to action until January at the earliest after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon against Paris Saint-Germain last month.
The French forward has since undergone surgery on the injury, that has curtailed his debut campaign and ruled him out of this summer’s World Cup.
Despite the length of his recovery period, Liverpool will not target a striker in the summer. The Telegraph are reporting that the Reds have no plans to invest again in a forward, following the huge recent expenditure on Ekitike and Alexander Isak. It comes despite Isak’s own injury issues in 2025/26, with the record signing starting only eight times in the Premier League.
Liverpool are confident that after successful surgery the striker will return to the levels he showed before the injury. In terms of centre-forward options to support Isak in the opening months of next season, Florian Wirtz has operated as a false nine previously, while Liverpool are expected to target a versatile wide-forward who can operate across the frontline.
Further back, Liverpool have 20-year-old Jayden Danns, who has three goals in 10 senior appearances. 19-year-old Keyrol Figueroa has also impressed at u-21 level, with the US youth international scoring 12 times in 16 games.
