Spurs, without a Premier League win in 2026, face a daunting task on Merseyside

Tottenham visit Liverpool today as Igor Tudor seeks to keep his side from dropping into the relegation zone.

Spurs find themselves level on points with West Ham after the Irons held Manchester City to a draw last night, and if Nottingham Forest get the better of Fulham today, Tudor’s side could fall into the bottom three.

Liverpool, locked in a multi-team battle for Champions League qualification, were beaten by Wolves in their last league outing and thus missed the chance to climb into the top-four.

In fact, defeat at Molineux saw the Reds slip a place to sixth by virtue of an inferior goal difference to Chelsea.

Arne Slot’s side have since gained revenge over Wolves to progress in the FA Cup, but did lose 1-0 to Galatasaray in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 showdown.

A 5-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night made it six defeats in a row in all competitions for Spurs, which means Tudor has lost every match since he took interim charge and his task does not get any easier.

Liverpool vs Tottenham team news

Liverpool will make a late check on Alisson Becker after the goalkeeper missed the trip to Istanbul with a fitness issue. Slot has said he expects the Brazilian to be available either against Spurs or for the Champions League last-16 second leg.

Federico Chiesa also missed out in midweek, because of illness, but is expected to make a full recovery to take a place in the matchday squad.

Alexander Isak, Wataru Endo, Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley are all sidelined, while Jeremie Frimpong, Cody Gakpo and Andy Robertson are pushing to start.

Wilson Odobert, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ben Davies and Lucas Bergvall are all long-term injury casualties, while Tudor has confirmed Cristian Romero and Joao Palhinha will not feature following a clash of heads which saw Tottenham finish the Atletico game with nine men.

Conor Gallagher is expected to overcome a fever to feature, Destiny Udogie is still a week away from a return after a month out with a hamstring issue, but Yves Bissouma will play no part.

Liverpool vs Tottenham prediction

Slot should get his wish on Sunday, playing a team that is unlikely to set up in a low block in an attempt to frustrate his Liverpool side. So there will be no excuses for not creating chances aplenty.

Then it will be on his attackers to be ruthless and put a poor Tottenham team to the sword.

At some point, you would assume Spurs will start picking up some wins and ease fears of relegation. We just don’t expect them to get anything at Anfield.

Liverpool to win, 4-0.

Head to head (h2h) history and results
