Liverpool are planning to restock their attacking options this summer.
Mohamed Salah will be leaving the club when his contract officially expires on June 30. The Egyptian King will be joined in the departure lounge by Federico Chiesa - who is moving closer to a return to Serie A.
There is uncertainty too regarding Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumoha - following Bayern Munich’s cheeky bid earlier this month.
And there is a sense that new Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola could do with a bit of creative spark through the midfield for good measure.
Liverpool recruiters are now on the trail of Arda Guler - according to a report in Sports Boom.
Guler, 21, joined Real Madrid back in 2023 from Fenerbahce as one of the top-rated young Turkish talents of all time. The left-footer took his time to settle at the Bernabeu but now possesses the stature of a Galactico.
Last season he scored six times and provided 13 assists in his games in the Champions League and La Liga. The Turkish international - who is under contract until 2029 - has proven himself to be a versatile performer.
Guler has lined up at right-wing, left-wing, attacking midfield and even centre-midfield for Los Blancos. His form has alerted Chelsea - whose incoming head coach Xabi Alonso worked with Guler briefly in the Spanish capital.
The London side have got Arda Guler at the top of their transfer wishlist - with Alonso believing that he is the missing piece of the jigsaw for his new side.
Chelsea are ready to spend £100m on Guler - despite Real Madrid’s clear not-for-sale stance.
Without European football Chelsea may struggle to attract top talent - and Liverpool as well as Arsenal are also interested in concluding a deal.
“Arsenal and Liverpool are also closely monitoring the situation of Arda Guler,” the report reads.
“Both clubs want to increase their midfield depth, and this interest is fueled by the anticipation that the age, technical capacity and market value of Guler will multiply exponentially in the coming years.
“On the Liverpool front, the search for a creative profile like Guler is clearly felt during the new generation rebuilding process under the new management of Andoni Iraola.”
It will be all change for Guler next season in Chamartin. Jose Mourinho is widely expected to be installed as new head coach. It remains to be seen what kind of role he finds for the FIFA World Cup star - if any - in his lineup.
Therefore for now in regard to a Premier League transfer.
