Liverpool are in the market for a Vitinha 2.0. A deal is there to be done if they want it.

The transfer window is right around the corner. Sunday sees the end of the Premier League season, after all, and Liverpool will be keen to get right to it.

Work is already being done, of course. They've all-but completed a deal for Samuel Martinez from Atletico Nacional, though he won't officially join until 2027.

But moves for players to impact next season are underway, too. One particularly interesting report is from Record, who claim Liverpool are fans of Francisco Trincao of Sporting.

Trincao is capable of playing on either wing or as an attacking midfielder. He's had an incredibly productive time with Sporting, too, with seven goals and 11 assists this season after nine and 14 last term.

But the Portugal star is notable for another reason: he's already 'failed' in the Premier League. Trincao was at Wolves for 2021/22 but struggled to make an impact there.

It's actually a very similar situation to Vitinha, who also struggled at Wolves before returning to Portugal. He'd then thrive back in his homeland, earn a move to Paris Saint-Germain, and become one of the world's best players.

Could lightning strike twice then? Sporting CP are apparently open to selling Trincao and would be willing to do so below his €60m release clause.

That's exactly the kind of deal Liverpool like - one that may pick up a player below his true market value. One to watch this summer, then, as the Reds attempt an attacking rebuild.

Francisco Trincao: Situation Summary

Sporting CP Campaign and Stats

As of 23 May 2026, Francisco Trincão is wrapping up a brilliant season with Sporting CP, securing consecutive Liga Portugal titles and preparing for tomorrow's Taça de Portugal final. The 26-year-old Portuguese winger has been vital, scoring 13 goals and providing 18 assists in 53 appearances across all competitions. This includes a crucial goal in a recent 4–1 win against Rio Ave on 11 May.

Contract Extension

Amid building interest from across Europe, Trincão signed a major long-term contract extension with Sporting CP on 5 March. The deal ties the forward to the Lisbon club until June 2030 and maintains his hefty €60 million release clause.

Transfer Speculation

Despite his recent extension, Trincão’s exceptional form has made him a premier summer target. Following Mohamed Salah’s confirmed departure, Liverpool have reportedly turned their attention to the winger as a direct replacement.
