Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is reportedly ready to reject a lucrative move to the Saudi Pro League (SPL) in favour of a surprising stay in Europe.
Salah announced in March that he will leave Liverpool this summer after agreeing to end his contract a year early.
The 33-year-old looked to have played his last game for Liverpool when he came off during Saturday’s 3-1 win against Crystal Palace.
However, the club have confirmed that his injury is not as serious as initially feared, suggesting he will feature again before the end of the season.
Salah was tipped to move to the Middle East this summer to play in the SPL, but has now been linked with a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
According to A Spor, the Super Lig club have already held two meetings with Salah’s agent over a potential summer move.
The forward reportedly expects an annual salary worth €20 million and wants to continue his career in Europe.
Fernerbahce have won the Super Lig 19 times since their inception in 1959, but they are on course to lose the title race to Galatasaray this season.
They are seven points behind the Lions with five games remaining.
