Newcastle United will face off against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday as they hope to secure a positive result on the road in the Premier League. The Magpies suffered a 2-1 loss against Sunderland before the international break, so they would be desperate to bounce back by putting in a good performance this weekend.

Eddie Howe will set his players up in a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make a few tweaks to his first team for this game. Tino Livramento, Malick Thiaw and Sandro Tonali could all play from the start of this clash.

Defence

Aaron Ramsdale will operate in goal for the Magpies after conceding two goals in his last outing. Malick Thiaw will function alongside Dan Burn at the centre of the Newcastle backline as they hope to keep a solid shape when defending inside their half.

Tino Livramento will try to prove his worth as the right-back, while Lewis Hall looks to produce a solid performance on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.

Alex Murphy will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Joelinton, Sandro Tonali and Jacob Ramsey will make up Newcastle’s midfield. Their main job would be to dictate the tempo of the game at the centre of the park and create a few inviting chances in the final third.

Joe Willock and Jacob Murphy will have to settle for a spot on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second 45 minutes if required.

Attack

Harvey Barnes will try to impress as the left-sided wide player, while Anthony Elanga hopes to make a difference from the right flank.

Anthony Gordon will spearhead Newcastle‘s attack up top. He has to find a way to be a real threat down the middle.

Yoane Wissa and William Osula will make up the numbers on the bench as they wait for their opportunity to make an impact in the final quarter of the game if the Magpies are in need of a goal by then.
