Former Lorient U19 coach Loïc Fiévet has been appointed head coach of the RC Lens women’s team, a day after Sarah M'Barek’s exit.

Her departure came amid confusion, as she said she was surprised because she had not been officially informed, a claim the club denies. According to L'Équipe, Lens will hold a press conference on Thursday at 10:30 to clarify the situation and present the 38-year-old.

Born in Sens, Fiévet previously worked at neighbours Valenciennes, leading the U19s from 2021 to 2024, then the reserves in 2024-2025.

He will be joined by assistant Jérémy Zaremba, recently elected mayor of Wargnies-le-Grand in the Nord. Zaremba has served as an assistant at Francs Borains in Belgium and as performance lead at an academy in Mali.

Former Caen goalkeeper Vincent Planté, who played there from 2003 to 2009, will coach the Lens goalkeepers. He previously worked with the reserve keepers at Amiens from 2022 to 2026.

Sporting director Laurie Dacquigny thanked M'Barek and her staff for their work in recent seasons. She said that despite relegation to Seconde Ligue after finishing 11th, these appointments reflect a clear plan to continue structuring the women’s set-up, and that Fiévet’s track record, local knowledge and expertise in the women’s game equip him to lead the next phase.
