Most of the time, different sports don’t correlate to each other. It’s hard to imagine a world that combines the NFL and soccer in the same conversation.

However, with the World Cup taking place in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, we can see famous NFL players at the Stadiums. For instance, Patrick Mahomes was present at Arrowhead Stadium for Lionel Messi’s hat-trick against Algeria.

Now, during a recent interview on the Unfiltered Soccer podcast with USMNT legends Landon Donovan and Tim Howard, Cameron Dicker (LA Chargers kicker) discussed who the greatest USMNT player is.

Cameron Dicker said Clint Dempsey is the greatest USMNT player

During a conversation at “Unfiltered Soccer” Live, a part of AMP Sports’ “Summer of Soccer”, Landon Donovan asked the 26-year-old NFL kicker who is, in his opinion, the greatest player of all time.

“I might have to say, Clint Dempsey.”

In a playful jab, with the LA Galaxy legend sitting right in front of him, the University of Texas Longhorns prospect and former Philadelphia Eagle said:

“I really want to say, Landon Donovan, he’s up there.” Adding, “It’s also Tim Howard up there.” After listening to these other two players, the USMNT legend asked him to finish his Mount Rushmore (typically used to determine the best players in a sport).

With a surprising answer, Dicker didn’t hesitate to mention Chris Richards, the current USMNT defender playing in the World Cup.

“I love Chris Richards, right now. I’m putting it up there. He’s one of my favourite players to watch,” adding, “Arguably, the best center back the US has had. He had a couple of great seasons, and I’m a fan.”

Knowing that everyone would name another legend, the former NFL kicker for the Baltimore Ravens chose an active player, and he is not wrong to select Richards.
