Under a week remains before the Real Madrid socios turn up to vote for the club’s next president in what will be the first election for the post since 2006.
Florentino Perez, who has been unchallenged over the past two decades, has found a strong and enthusiastic competitor in Enrique Riquelme and the latter is doing everything in his power to leave his mark on the members.
So far, he has already promised a project with Raul Gonzalez as his sporting director and Rodri as one of his star signings.

Perez, meanwhile, has remained relatively silent and basked in the shadows of support flowing in from various club legends.
Karim Benzema, Luka Modric, Lucas Vázquez, Casemiro, Pepe, Ronaldo Nazário and Roberto Carlos are some of the club legends who have come out to back Perez’s bid to return as president.
Now, former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has come out to voice his support for the president on his social media.
In a post on his Instagram account, Ancelotti has posted a photo of himself with Perez standing in front of all the trophies they have won together. The photo is captioned ‘A lot of history to make’, clearly backing Perez to continue in his post.

While Real Madrid enjoyed special results under several managers during Florentino Perez’s spell as the club president, Carlo Ancelotti stands out as one of the greatest of them all.
Over his two stints at the club, the experienced coach has won it all with Real Madrid, and it was only his final campaign at the club that ended in disappointment.
Now, he is the manager of the Brazilian national team and is preparing for the FIFA World Cup challenge which is set to kick off later this month.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, are looking for a new manager as they have failed to adequately fill the void left by Ancelotti’s departure.
