Deadline-day arrival Luca Netz believes his Bundesliga grounding can help him step into the Premier League with Nottingham Forest, speaking on the club’s YouTube channel as he eyes a possible outing at Leeds United on Friday.

The 22-year-old left-back signed from Borussia Monchengladbach on a four-and-a-half-year deal on the final day of the winter window. Head coach Sean Dyche has suggested Forest’s move also looked to the future.

He already has more than 120 senior appearances and debuted in the Bundesliga in 2021, yet he accepts English football will be a different test. He describes himself as dynamic going forward and hopes to bring those qualities to the team.

Netz could come straight in at Elland Road with first-choice left-back Neco Williams suspended after his red card in last Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace. Dyche is short of natural full-backs and must decide whether to use the newcomer or deploy a centre-back out of position.

If selected, he would face his former coach Daniel Farke, now in charge of Leeds, and he says he is keen to make the fans happy. Forest moved early as he was due to be a free agent in the summer, paying a fee in the region of £2 million.

Netz called the City Ground an amazing stadium and said the club’s history appealed, adding that once the call came he wanted to join and cannot wait to get started.
