Luca Zidane has been named in Algeria’s World Cup squad despite suffering fractures to his jaw and chin in late April, while Paris FC’s Ilan Kebbal has been left out.
According to L'Équipe, Vladimir Petkovic unveiled a 27-player list on Sunday for the tournament running from 11 June to 19 July. It includes four goalkeepers and will be cut to 26 before kick-off, with one keeper to depart.
With injuries mounting in goal, the Granada goalkeeper has been called up. Fellow stopper Melvin Mastil, also injured, is included.
Nabil Bentaleb is among the midfielders selected after missing the last Africa Cup of Nations, when Algeria went out in the quarter-finals. Four France-based players also feature, Aïssa Mandi, Samir Chergui, Hicham Boudaoui and Amine Gouiri.
Algeria are in Group J at the World Cup and will face Argentina, Austria and Jordan.
