Lucas Silvestre eyes better interim run in key Corinthians clash

With Dorival Júnior's expulsion in Corinthians' last match, a 1-1 draw against Internacional, Lucas Silvestre will have the responsibility of leading the team as interim coach against Mirassol. The challenge takes place this Saturday, 4th, starting at 9 PM (Brasília time), at the Neo Química Arena.

Son of the coach, Lucas has been a professional partner of Dorival Júnior since 2010, but has had few opportunities to take on the role as interim – and the numbers are negative. He hasn't led a team from the sidelines since 2023, when he was interim for São Paulo in two 0-0 draws against Botafogo and Bahia in the Brasileirão.

His other experiences happened in 2020, when the commission led by Dorival Júnior was in charge of Athletico-PR. On both occasions, he saw Furacão defeated by Santos (3-1) and Palmeiras (1-0). These games were also part of the Brazilian Championship, while the head coach was absent due to being diagnosed with Covid-19.

Despite the positive record against Mirassol, with an unbeaten streak at the Neo Química Arena, Corinthians will have to overcome Lucas Silvestre's negative performance, with only 16.67% of points won and one goal scored, to move closer to the top of the standings.

The People's Team is coming off three games without a win, with two losses and a draw. As a result, they have stagnated in the table and seen other teams rise, such as Vasco da Gama and Ceará, who have surpassed the club.
