Lucas Silvestre, son of Dorival, to lead Corinthians as interim for third time | OneFootball

Lucas Silvestre will lead Corinthians against Coritiba in the fifth round of the Brasileiro on Wednesday, with Dorival Júnior suspended after his dismissal for dissent in the draw with Cruzeiro.

According to Meu Timao, this is his third stint as interim at the club, having stepped in twice last season when Dorival served a ban following a red card against Internacional.

On those occasions, Corinthians beat Mirassol 3-0 at the Neo Química Arena before losing 3-1 to Santos at Vila Belmiro.

Silvestre, a physical education graduate, has worked alongside Dorival since 2010 at Santos, Flamengo, São Paulo and Athletico Paranaense, as well as with the Brazil national team. He is valued for tactical detail and match analysis.

As a stand-in elsewhere, he led São Paulo to two 0-0 draws with Botafogo and Bahia in August 2023. In August 2020, when Dorival had Covid-19, he oversaw Athletico Paranaense defeats to Santos 3-1 and Palmeiras 1-0.

Across those interim matches, his teams have a 27.78% points return, with four goals scored and seven conceded.

Corinthians aim to move on from their Paulista semi-final exit to Novorizontino and sustain a bright league start, sitting third on seven points. Kick-off is at 21:30 at the Neo Química Arena.
