Benfica defender Lúcia Alves has downplayed talk over her future, stressing her focus is on the run-in, starting with Rio Ave, then the Taça de Portugal against Porto. The Portugal international’s contract expires this summer.

According to Glorioso 1904, Porto have shown interest in the defender. She spoke at the champions’ celebration event, where Ivan Baptista’s side were cheered by a large crowd.

Alves said she does not dwell on what comes next, preferring to live in the present and enjoy her football. She underlined that Benfica aim to finish the league well against Rio Ave, then turn to the Cup with the ambition of adding another trophy to the club’s collection.

She added that the team will give their all in both matches, and that in the end the best side should win.

Benfica have already wrapped up the Liga BPI with two rounds remaining and have two fixtures left this season. A Cosme Damião award winner, Alves is one of the squad’s most influential figures under Baptista. She wants to continue at Luz.
