Yesterday, Roma let Zeki Celik slip out from under their noses.
The Turkish player seemed close to renewing his contract with Roma, but Juventus swiftly gifted the full-back to Luciano Spalletti.
The Bianconeri coach spoke at a press conference about the incident, praising the club.
The Certaldo-born coach began his remarks with this statement: “Someone may leave, but we must be ready. What happened yesterday shows that we have a strong club, one that knows how to surprise. Releasing names early could complicate negotiations.”
Spalletti then focused on Celik: “He’s a player with character, he’s certainly reliable and has the attitude of a warrior: it was a good idea to bring him home. He won’t have any problems settling in because he’s an experienced player, a very good guy who everyone in football knows, and he’ll fit in easily.”
Finally, the Juventus coach spoke about the Massara-Carnevali duo: “I’ve always had a good relationship with all the executives I’ve worked with in my career. We know Carnevali and Massara well: I’ve already worked with the latter and I know his qualities very well. I’ve never worked with Carnevali, but we have mutual respect and a relationship that has tied us together for years. We are on perfect terms. They are people who can be described through their past, their history.”
“I don’t have to describe them. I have the utmost confidence that we will fill the boxes we need to have a strong squad and important aspirations. It’s clear that the pitch and the desk can make a lot of difference in terms of the quality of our football and our team.”
