The fans were surprised to see that neither the Brazilian nor the Uruguayan was in the matchday squad.
After the lineups were announced, the Sun’s correspondent, Samuel Luckhurst, shed some light on the situation, providing updates on Casemiro and Ugarte.

The MUFC insider revealed that the former Real Madrid star isn’t fit enough to take part in the contest. Nevertheless, he reassured that the Brazilian will be available for his Old Trafford swansong next week.
“Casemiro not ready today but club expect him to be back for next week,” posted Luckurst on his X Account.
When the 34-year-old is missing, Ugarte is considered his natural replacement. However, the Uruguayan is also out of the squad after suffering a knock in training.
“Ugarte sustained a problem in training,” added Luckhurst.
Darren Fletcher’s twins, Jack and Tyler, have been summoned to fill in the vacancies in the squad. The 19-year-old duo will start on the bench.
It should be noted that United have already booked their place in the Champions League next season, so their remaining fixtures are considered more or less trivial.
With Casemiro and Ugarte both unavailable, Michael Carrick was forced to adopt a ‘light’ midfield duo, as Bruno Fernandes drops to a deeper role to combine with Kobbie Mainoo.
With the club captain filling in the double pivot, Mason Mount seized the opportunity to earn a starting role. The former Chelsea player will start as an attacking midfielder, flanked by Matheus Cunha and Amad Diallo, who returns to his old ground.
Benjamin Sesko is also out of the squad after colliding with an advertising board during last Sunday’s win over Liverpool. Therefore, Joshua Zirkzee will get his first starting role under Carrick, while Bryan Mbeumo is the only forward on the bench.
After serving a three-match ban, Lisandro Martinez returns to the lineup. He will combine with Harry Maguire at the heart of the backline, while Noussair Mazraoui and Luke Shaw take the full-back roles. Adyen Heaven and Diogo Dalot have been relegated to the bench.
Man Utd XI (4-2-3-1): Lammens, Mazraoui, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw; Mainoo, Fernandes (c); Amad, Mount, Cunha; Zirkzee
Subs: Bayindir, Dalot, Dorgu, Heaven, Malacia, Yoro. J. Fletcher, T. Fletcher, Mbeumo.
