Bryan Zaragoza and FC Bayern – it never really worked out. Now, however, the attacking player, who has been loaned out to Rome, could return to Munich for the time being

FC Bayern’s plan to let Bryan Zaragoza gain match practice in Italy and then sell him has been scuppered for the time being. Instead of a permanent departure, there are currently many indications that the attacking player will return to Munich for the time being

As reported by BILD , AS Roma are not currently planning to activate the agreed purchase option, meaning that the loan chapter has come to an end for the time being without a lasting sporting breakthrough – and Bayern are once again faced with the question of what to do with a player who hardly plays a role in their own plans

The model was actually an attractive one, with the Munich club collecting a loan fee of around two million euros back in February, which could have been followed by a further 13 million euros for a permanent deal – originally an economically attractive option for both sides

Bayern still earn money from Zaragoza loan

In sporting terms, Zaragoza was never able to gain a permanent foothold in Rome. Limited playing time, a lack of rhythm and, most recently, physical setbacks prevented the Spaniard from making a lasting impression. A muscular injury is currently making his situation even more difficult and depriving him of the chance to play himself into the limelight once again in the decisive phase of the season

According to information from Italy, however, a special safeguard in the contract applies if the purchase option is not activated: should the Italian capital club decide against signing Zaragoza, a penalty payment of 500,000 euros will be due to FC Bayern

Even if Zaragoza is now likely to return to Munich for the time being, it is considered extremely unrealistic that he will stay beyond the summer. Instead, it is likely to be examined internally whether another loan solution is possible or whether a buyer can still be found.
