Diaz has reportedly made it clear that he wants to leave the Merseyside giants
According to the Athletic, the Bundesliga champions’ bid as worth €67.5m (£58.5m). However, it was turned down immediately by the Reds who value the Colombia international at €100m (£86.6m).
Furthermore, the report states that whilst Diaz has made it clear he wants to leave Anfield, the club have informed any potential suitors that they are not interested in selling this summer.
This stance from the 28-year-old represents a surprise U-turn as it was only in May that he signaled his intention to sign a new deal with the reigning Premier League champions.
Speaking to Telemundo, he said: “Yes, happy. From the first day I arrived, I’ve always been happy, calm, enjoying the football played at this great team.
“We’ll be talking about it, we’ll talk about it (about the renewal). For me, I would stay however many years it takes, it also depends on the club, everything.
“These are details that are sorted out separately. Very calm, I’m happy and enjoying the Premier League.”
Signed from Porto for an initial fee of £37.5 million in January 2022, Diaz quickly became a fan-favourite on Merseyside and he played a significant role in Liverpool’s Premier League title triumph last season.
His 17 goals across all competitions means it was his most productive campaign to date for the Reds and his 13 goals in the league was a total only bettered by Mohamed Salah (29) in the entire squad.
Diaz cemented himself as a key player under Arne Slot last season. He made 50 appearances across all competitions totaling over 3,000 minutes as his ability to play out wide or down the middle ultimately worked in his favour.
