Luis Rubiales drama continues as ex football chief gets egged at book release | OneFootball

Disgraced Spanish Football Chief Luis Rubiales had eggs thrown at him during his book launch this week by one of his family members no less.

Rubiales was presenting his new book to the media in Madrid on Thursday and once again he was subject to another dramatic incident.

Why was Luis Rubiales egged?

Earlier this week, Luis Rubiales refused to apologise to Jenni Hermoso for kissing the Spaniard after the World Cup final.

Rubiales is maintaining his innocence in the situation, despite being convicted of sexual assault following the incident.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president stepped down from his role following the World Cup and he was fined €10,000 by the RFEF.

But that wasn’t the end of the situation, as Rubiales was egged at his own book release this week just days after pleading his innocence.

The 48-year-old revealed after the dramatic conference that it was in fact his own uncle who launched eggs at him.

“I’ve found out he was my own uncle; Luis Ruben he’s called. An uncle who is my age,” Rubiales told the news portal Periodista Digital. “He threw eggs at me because he’s a deranged person, and I don’t think there’s any justification for it.

“They’ve arrested him, they’ve taken him away and, well, we’ll have to take action against him because I honestly thought he was armed.”

Spanish police have since confirmed that the man was arrested on site, but they refused to confirm the attacker’s identity.

Rubiales was seen chasing after the accused after he was hit and the Disgraced Spanish Football Chief had to be held back by staff as his supposed uncle was arrested.

Jenni Hermoso only returned to the Spanish national team in October this year. The former Barcelona star was left traumatised by the incident and the lack of remorse from Rubiales certainly hasn’t helped the situation.

The uproar in Spain over the drama is certainly not letting up and this latest incident has only added fuel to the fire for Rubiales moving forward.
