Flamengo dismissed head coach Filipe Luís in the early hours of Tuesday after an 8-0 win over Madureira, and a post by Luiz Araújo soon after stirred debate among supporters.

According to Coluna Do Fla, talks are under way with Portuguese coach Leonardo Jardim, the former Cruzeiro boss.

Araújo shared an Instagram photo with praying hands emojis, which many read as a note of thanks. Fans then questioned in his comments whether it was a veiled message about Filipe Luís.

The winger had lost ground under Filipe Luís, featuring in only five Campeonato Carioca matches, with one start. He did not appear in the Supercopa do Brasil or the Recopa Sudamericana deciders.

Despite that, he was among Flamengo's key forwards last season, playing 68 times with 13 goals and nine assists.
