Luka Modric, nearing 41, signs one-year AC Milan extension | OneFootball

According to L'Équipe, Luka Modric has signed a one-year extension with AC Milan, keeping him at the club for a second season as he nears 41.

The Croatia captain had been out of contract since 30 June. He will retain the number 14 and has 202 caps for his country.

He joined last summer after leaving Real Madrid. The 2018 Ballon d'Or made 37 appearances under Massimiliano Allegri and helped the Rossoneri qualify for the Europa League.

Next season he will work under Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim, appointed a few weeks ago.

The decision follows several weeks of uncertainty over his future, and suggests he is not ready to call time on his career.
