Lyon handed busy August, Ligue 1 opener amid Champions League qualifiers | OneFootball

The LFP unveiled the Ligue 1 calendar on Wednesday, and Paulo Fonseca’s Lyon face a congested August across domestic and European fronts.

Lyon will open at Toulouse, then host Le Havre. Meetings with Rennes, Lens, PSG, Lille, Monaco and OM are scheduled for later in the campaign.

Before the league begins on 21, 22 and 23 August, Lyon must play the third qualifying round on 4/5 and 11 August, then the play-off on 18/19 and 25/26 August, for a Champions League return in September.

That programme leaves them with two or four extra matches compared with their Ligue 1 rivals.

Their top-flight kick-off falls between the two play-off legs, adding to an already packed schedule.
