Lyon aim to bring in a specialist centre-forward before the Champions League third qualifying round first leg, according to Le Progres.

Rémi Himbert has scored three goals in pre-season against Mâcon 71, yet the club want an out-and-out striker to start their campaign.

Head coach Paulo Fonseca said he hopes a new forward will be in place next week.

Club director Michael Gerlinger stressed they want the signing completed by then.

Sporting director Matthieu Louis-Jean added that the club are working on the deal and remain very confident.

One option under consideration is Loïs Openda, formerly of Lens, who moved to Leipzig and was loaned to Juventus Turin last season. At 26, he appears a strong fit for Lyon’s style.
