Having suffered a sprained ankle following a collision in training, Olympique Lyonnais’s Khalis Merah (19) is expected to be sidelined for a month, according to reports from L’Équipe.
As a result, OL’s new number 18 could be forced to miss the first leg of the Champions League third qualifying round, scheduled for 4th or 5th August. Further information regarding his physical rehabilitation will provide more details on the exact date of his return.
This is a real blow for the young midfielder, who had spent his time off building up his fitness rather than enjoying his holidays. Having made his debut in the first-team squad during pre-season preparations for the 2025-26 campaign, Merah emerged as a rising star in Paulo Fonseca’s squad, featuring in 32 matches across all competitions (one goal, two assists) in the months that followed.
A French Under-20 international (two caps), the Meyzieu-born player remains under contract with Les Gones until June 2029.
