Real Madrid’s Champions League exit to Bayern Munich prompted fury in the Spanish capital, much of it directed at the officiating.

Real Madrid lost 3-4 on Wednesday, exiting in the quarter-finals after referee Slavko Vincic showed Eduardo Camavinga a second yellow card in the 86th minute. L'Équipe notes that Madrid’s press pinned the blame on that dismissal.

Marca called it an injustice and said the strict sending-off broke Real’s morale, pointing to Camavinga’s shock after a second booking for unsporting play.

As went further, running a headline that suggested Madrid were on course to qualify until the referee decided otherwise, casting Vincic’s choice as debatable.

Over in Catalonia, Sport mocked Madrid as out and a disaster, speaking of another blank season and saying the club had been paid back in kind.

Mundo Deportivo was more restrained, offering a more understated take and describing a white knockout. Barcelona were also eliminated in the quarter-finals on Tuesday by Atlético Madrid, 0-2 and 2-1.
