Maicon, 22, Corinthians futsal winger and this season’s top scorer, has entered Fernando Diniz’s sights to be tested in 11-a-side.
According to Meu Timao, he has been tried on both wings in Under-20 11-a-side training and occasionally in midfield.
Born on 10 August 2004, he combined grassroots 11-a-side with futsal until 18, then scored 24 for Clube Esportivo da Penha’s Under-18s in 2022.
He joined Corinthians in 2023, hitting 10 for the Under-20s and adding three in five for the senior futsal side. Promoted in 2024, he has 119 games, 53 goals and 21 assists, plus two trophies in 2025.
This season he has 14 goals and four assists in 28 matches.
His skill set blends close control, two-footed finishing, short dribbles and pace, attracting interest from LNF sides and European football between the 2025 and 2026 seasons. He also won the Liga Evolução Under-20 with Brazil early last season.
Any switch will take time. The pitch, timings and physical demands are different, so expectations after one training block should remain modest.
He could earn further chances, including with the senior group, but it is too soon to judge.
Leozinho’s path underlines that reality, he needed three years via Hercílio Luz and Ituano before impressing at Athletico-PR after leaving futsal at a higher level than Maicon.
For now, Maicon remains a Corinthians futsal jewel exploring whether he can also shine in 11-a-side.
