Mainz 2-0 Strasbourg player ratings: Posch shines as Enciso struggles | OneFootball

Mainz seized control of their Europa Conference League quarter-final, beating Strasbourg 2-0 on Thursday as Posch impressed and Enciso faded.

According to L'Équipe, Sano's shot deflected in on 11 minutes before Posch doubled the lead with a right-footed volley from a corner on 19. The Germans rarely looked troubled.

Strasbourg goalkeeper Mike Penders, unlucky on the opener and exposed for the second, then kept the score down with four saves, three after the break at 50, 53 and 78 minutes.

Posch, left unmarked near the box and having gone close a minute earlier, also marshalled his area, clearing centres from Godo on 57 and 68 minutes and from Nanasi on 86.

Paul Nebel troubled Doué throughout, firing a low effort on 34 and creating for Tietz on 36, while his corners repeatedly threatened. He dipped around the hour, then finished strongly and left to ovations on 90.

For Strasbourg, Barco struck the bar on 74 but lacked intensity. Doué defended loosely for the opener, was booked on 31, and missed the target from close range on 26.

El-Mourabet struggled as a high No 10. Oyedele gave possession away early and was replaced on 64. Enciso had little impact, missing a one-on-one on 57 and shooting over late after a brief improvement.
