Mohamed Salah has left Liverpool.
The Egyptian King - who joined the Reds back in 2017 - reached an agreement to rip up his £400k per week contract a year early.
It has left a hole on the right side of Liverpool’s attack which Richard Hughes - the sporting director - is still trying to fill.
Bradley Barcola is the latest name in the frame but Paris Saint-Germain are seeking £128m for his signature. Others - such as Said El Mala, Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Yankuba Minteh are also in the frame.
It remains to be seen which first-choice winger Richard Hughes and Andoni Iraola end up with.
But one thing is for sure and it’s that Salah is moving closer to his next destination. There has been huge speculation in recent days that the left-footed attacker would be joining Besiktas.
The Turkish side are planning big changes this summer - hiring Vincenzo Italiano as head coach and recruiting Leandro Trossard from Arsenal.
Salah would be a gigantic signing for the Istanbul side - and according to various sources a deal is close.
The big problem Salah is facing is that he will be getting nowhere near the contract he had at Liverpool.
The two-time African footballer of the year negotiated a deal worth over £20m a year when he renewed with Liverpool back in 2025.
And ahead of his release from Anfield it was expected that he would command an even bigger salary - especially where Saudi Arabia was involved.
Al-Ittihad were reported to be offering Salah a contract worth £1.67m PER WEEK ahead of the summer window. But they - along with Saudi Arabia’s other big clubs - seem to have sat out the fight for Salah this summer.
Instead it is Besiktas who have swooped in for a deal. And Salah looks set to be making around HALF of what he was earning in his final couple of seasons on Merseyside.

“Verbal agreement reached with Mohamed Salah to join Besiktas on a free transfer,” Santi Aouna writes on X. “Salary worth around €10m per year + €2m bonuses.
“One-year contract with an option for an additional year.” If all add-ons are achieved it will put Salah on around £10m per year. Without those bonus activations it’ll be around £8.5m.
That leaves the Egyptian icon with around £165k per week on his new contract. Surely this isn’t what he had in mind when he decided to leave Liverpool.
Instead of moving into the stratosphere with Cristiano Ronaldo - on dizzying money in Saudi Arabia - he is going to end up on far less at Besiktas.
By no means a bad contract it’s just a pity from Salah’s perspective that the market isn’t as hot as he and Ramy Abbas maybe first imagined it would be.
