Malang Sarr leaves Lens on a free after two seasons | OneFootball

Malang Sarr has left RC Lens as a free agent after two seasons, the club and defender failing to agree an extension.

His deal expires on Tuesday, and the 27-year-old did not progress talks on Lens’s offers to stay. According to La Voix du Nord, he never responded at all, despite the club making his renewal a priority.

Sarr will now seek a move that matches ambitions Lens could not satisfy. Fenerbahçe are said to be interested and to have made several offers.

Signed in 2024 from Chelsea, he made 62 appearances for Lens and revived his career, particularly this season. He was part of Ligue 1’s second-best defence, which conceded 35 goals.

He featured once in the Europa Conference League. He also lifted the Coupe de France after a 3-1 win over his former club, OGC Nice, the first in Lens’s history.

Sarr aims to one day represent Senegal.
