Malick Fofana undergoes minor ankle procedure after October injury | OneFootball

Lyon forward Malick Fofana has undergone a minor procedure on his right ankle to remove surgical hardware inserted last year, the club said in a statement.

The Belgian suffered a serious injury on 27 October after a tackle from behind by Strasbourg defender Ismaël Doukouré, which initially required surgery.

He spent months on the sidelines before resuming work, first individually, then gradually with the squad.

Despite brief cameos against Celta de Vigo and Monaco, he had continued to feel pain in recent weeks.

No timeframe has been given for his return. He could miss more matches, and his chance of playing at the World Cup is compromised.
