Mamelodi Sundowns booked a semi-final berth by beating Al Ahli (SAU) 2-1 on Saturday 19, as the 2026 Intercontinental pathway got under way. The South African side now await the winner from the Americas bracket.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo, Estudiantes (ARG), Palmeiras or Fluminense will face Toluca (MEX) in the Dérbi das Américas, a quarter-final fixture. The winner meets Sundowns in what FIFA terms the Challenger Cup.

PSG (FRA) await the Challenger Cup victors in the Intercontinental final.

Flamengo remain three matches from Intercontinental qualification. They visit Estudiantes on 15 October for the Libertadores semi-final first leg, then host the return at the Maracanã on 22 October. The winners face Palmeiras or Fluminense in November's continental final in Uruguay.

As last season's Libertadores winners, Flamengo lifted two of the three trophies on offer in December. They won the Dérbi das Américas 2-1 against Cruz Azul (MEX) and the Challenger Cup 2-0 over Pyramids (EGI), before a 1-1 draw with PSG ended in defeat on penalties in the Intercontinental.
