A man has been arrested after an alleged assault in Richmond, west London, during which two Brentford players tried to intervene.
According to The Athletic, the Metropolitan Police said a 63-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, 24 March on suspicion of common assault, attempted criminal damage and a racially aggravated public order offence.
Officers were called in the early hours of Sunday, 22 March, several hours after Brentford’s goalless draw with Leeds United at Elland Road the previous day. The alleged assault victim was not injured, and a second victim subjected to racially aggravated verbal abuse was later identified.
Brentford declined to comment.
Brentford are seventh in the Premier League and host Everton at the Gtech Community Stadium on 11 April.
