Man City 3-0 Crystal Palace: Foden Keeps Title Chase Alive

Manchester City’s title race still has breath in it. A 3-0 win over Crystal Palace moved Pep Guardiola’s side to within two points of Arsenal, on a night when rotation did not weaken their rhythm or resolve.

Guardiola rested six players with the FA Cup in mind, leaving Erling Haaland on the bench, yet Man City still found enough control and quality to break down Crystal Palace.

Foden Finds His Spark

Phil Foden shaped the match. The first half had been tight and slow until his clever backheel released Antoine Semenyo, who finished powerfully for 1-0.

Foden then helped turn Josko Gvardiol’s delivery into danger, with Omar Marmoush making it 2-0. It was Foden’s sharpest, most productive performance in months, full of imagination and timing.

City’s Depth Makes Difference

Gvardiol impressed on his return, giving City defensive security and attacking width. Bernardo Silva kept the tempo steady, while Gianluigi Donnarumma made important saves, even when Palace attacks were later ruled offside.

Late on, Rayan Cherki added a flash of invention, slipping through Crystal Palace bodies before setting up Savinho for the third. It was a reminder that Man City’s squad depth may yet matter hugely.

Man City Keep Pressure On

This was not a night of overwhelming force, but it was one of efficiency, patience and timely quality. Crystal Palace had moments, yet Man City carried the greater certainty.

With the FA Cup final approaching and the Premier League still alive, Guardiola will know this mattered. Foden’s return to influence mattered most of all.
