More than anything, it shows the club remains forward-thinking. Going after a young, English talent who’s just starred at the U21 Euros is classic City. We don’t need just cover, we need someone to evolve into a world-class asset, and that’s what Tino offers.

The fact we’re also looking at options like Cambiaso and Savona proves that City’s recruitment team is planning for every scenario. Dumfries might have been cheaper, but quality always wins out in our squad. And letting Akanji go to Fenerbahce? It makes sense if it’s part of bringing in someone with more pace and energy.
