Pep Guardiola has given a cryptic update on whether Rodri will return for Manchester City against Chelsea in Saturday’s FA Cup final.

The Spaniard has been out for weeks with a groin injury that he sustained in the 2-1 win over Arsenal, missing five games in the process.

As such, it has led to Guardiola needing to reshuffle his pack in the engine room and beyond as he looks to navigate both the Premier League title race and his side’s FA Cup hopes.

Now, ahead of City’s trip to Wembley to face Chelsea in the final, Guardiola was asked about the 2024 Ballon d’Or’s fitness.

“We’ll see,” Guardiola replied curtly.

Otherwise on the fitness front, they are at full strength, with Guardiola resting some of his key names in the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Erling Haaland sat out, deputised by Omar Marmoush, and Jeremy Doku was given a breather before emerging as a substitute on the hour.

Matheus Nunes, a near ever-present at right-back this term, started against the Eagles but was sacrificed for Nathan Ake.

City are chasing a domestic treble this season as they fight on two fronts heading into the business end of the campaign.

They won the Carabao Cup with a 2-0 victory against Arsenal in March, with Nico O’Reilly netting a brace under the arch.

Win the FA Cup over the weekend, and they will have claimed both domestic cups.

However, they remain two points behind league leaders Arsenal in the title race with two games left to play and time running out.

City’s previous record in FA Cup finals recently has been poor, with Guardiola’s men losing both their last two finals in the competition.

They were defeated in stunning fashion by Palace last term, and Manchester United bested them in 2024 as Erik ten Hag lifted his second trophy of his short-lived tenure.
