Pep Guardiola has chance to send Vitor Pereira’s side into relegation zone
Manchester City will hope to close the gap to Premier League leaders Arsenal as they host Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.
Pep Guardiola’s side have won five of their last six in the league, but need the Gunners to slip up if they are to close the gap at all. They have failed to do so after beating Leeds, Newcastle and Fulham in recent weeks.
With a huge FA Cup fifth-round clash against Newcastle and a two-legged Champions League meeting with Real Madrid looming on the horizon, Guardiola could do with a win to continue building momentum ahead of a season-defining run of matches.
He may have to do so without the services of star striker Erling Haaland, though, as the Norwegian is dealing with a knock and could miss the tie.
Forest have improved slightly under the guidance of Vitor Pereira, who replaced Sean Dyche last month, though they remain without a win in the league since his appointment.
Sunday’s defeat by Brighton ensured Forest finished the weekend just two points above the relegation zone, and they will not be optimistic of putting any daylight between themselves and West Ham after facing City.
Here’s everything you need to know about the match...
Manchester City vs Nottingham Forest is scheduled for a 7.30pm GMT kick-off on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
The match will take place at the Etihad Stadium.
TV channel: In the UK, the game will be televised live on TNT Sports 4, with coverage starting at 7pm ahead of a 7.30pm kick-off.
Live stream: TNT Sports subscribers can also catch the contest live online via the Discovery+ app and website.
There is concern surrounding Erling Haaland after he was left out of City’s squad to face Leeds on Saturday.
The Norwegian picked up a knock in training on Friday, but Guardiola refused to be drawn as to what the injury is or how severe it is.
“I don’t have any answer right now,” he said at Elland Road. “He was not ready for today, but we have four days before Nottingham Forest and after, three days to the FA Cup at Newcastle at 8pm.”

Elsewhere, Nico O’Reilly is a doubt as he looks to shake off a knock to his ankle, but Max Alleyne is expected to make the squad having returned to first-team training last week. Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic remain long-term absentees.
In the opposite dugout, shot-stopper Stefan Ortega is nearing a return from his lower-leg injury but Pereira has confirmed he will be unavailable to face his former club.
Chris Wood is also sidelined with a knee injury, expected to keep him away from the action until April.
Goalkeeper John Victor and Nicolo Savona are both due out until the summer, while Willy Boly is sidelined indefinitely with a knee injury.

The situation at the City Ground is dire, and there is very little to suggest the storm will clear at all as Forest visit the Etihad.
Guardiola’s City are in fine form as they cruise towards the end of the season, and will be keen for a confidence-boosting win ahead of some titanic fixtures in the coming weeks.
That spells doom for Forest, who have not been particularly impressive at either end of the pitch in recent weeks. Facing a team as well-rounded as City, they face a tall order - regardless of whether Haaland is passed fit.
With West Ham facing Fulham in a simultaneous kick-off, there is every chance Nottingham find themselves in the drop zone by the time the final whistle blows.
Manchester City to win, 4-0.
City have only lost one of their last eight meetings with Forest, only conceding three times in that run. They won the reverse of this fixture 2-1 in December, with Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki responsible for the goals.
Manchester City wins: 40
Nottingham Forest wins: 32
Draws: 25
Manchester City to win: 1/3
Nottingham Forest to win: 6/1
