Concerns over the striker’s fitness have been allayed

Erling Haaland is back in the Manchester City team after shaking off an injury for tonight’s Premier League clash against Newcastle.

The striker was left out of the squad that faced Salford last weekend after picking up a knock against Fulham the week prior, and his condition was being closely monitored ahead of the weekend.

Haaland was pictured in training on Tuesday, and Pep Guardiola has named the Norway international in his starting XI against the Magpies.

Antoine Semenyo and Omar Marmoush - who scored twice against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg earlier in the month - will provide support to Haaland in attack as Rayan Cherki and Phil Foden are on the bench.

There is more positive news on the flanks, with Savinho back in the matchday squad after a quad injury, though fellow wingerJeremy Doku continues to nurse a calf problem.

Young defender Max Alleyne misses out, having been forced off during the FA Cup win over Salford.
