Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves despite the forward’s new deal.
Cunha was linked with an exit from Molineux in January but instead signed a new four-and-a-half year contract with the club.
Arsenal, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Spurs were all credited as admirers last month.
Spanish outlet AS are reporting that United and Spurs could revisit an approach for Cunha in the summer. The Brazil international’s new contract contains a release clause of €75m (£62.4m) that can be activated at the end of the campaign.
Cunha has scored 11 goals and created four more for Wolves in the Premier League this season. His performances in a struggling side and ability to operate in numerous advanced roles appeal to interested sides.
Wolves boss Vitor Pereira hailed Cunha as a leader after signing a new deal with the 25-year-old pivotal to the club’s battle against Premier League relegation.
“He’s a very important player for us. He’s committed, and I’m happy, very happy,” he told the club’s official website.
“I believe that with him, it’s better for us. It is better with him than without him, because he’s a player who can decide the game in a second and the team needs his leadership also, on the pitch, outside the pitch, and this is a different player.”
