Manchester United remain in direct contact with Benjamin Sesko’s camp as they prepare for a potential move for the RB Leipzig striker. According to Caught Offside, the Slovenian has yet to make a definitive decision on his future, but there is growing confidence at Old Trafford that he would prefer a move to United over Newcastle.

The forward, valued at a minimum of €80 million (£69.1 million) by Leipzig, has also been sounded out by the Magpies. Both Premier League clubs are aiming to secure personal terms with the player before attempting to negotiate a transfer fee, hoping early agreement with Sesko will soften Leipzig’s stance.
Christopher Vivell, formerly of Leipzig and now working closely with Manchester United, is understood to be playing a significant role in trying to bring Sesko to the club. His knowledge of both the player and the German side’s internal workings is seen as a possible advantage.
Despite this, there is internal debate at United. Ruben Amorim is reportedly leaning toward a different target, with Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins said to be his personal preference. Even so, the broader recruitment team appears aligned in its pursuit of Sesko.

Newcastle, having missed out on Hugo Ekitike, have accelerated their pursuit of a new centre forward and view Sesko as an ideal fit. Their terms are said to be competitive, and they are also in regular contact with the player’s representatives.

With the new season fast approaching, both clubs are keen to finalise their attacking options. United have already added Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, but a marquee No.9 remains a key component of Amorim’s tactical blueprint.
For Manchester United supporters, the potential signing of Benjamin Sesko would feel like a significant leap forward. At just 22, the Slovenian has the profile, physicality and technical attributes that suit the Premier League.
Sesko’s movement off the ball, his aerial threat and his ability to stretch defences are all traits United have lacked on a consistent basis. While Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo offer flexibility across the front line, Sesko is a more traditional No.9 who could bring cohesion and presence in central areas.
There will be excitement around Christopher Vivell’s influence in this pursuit. The former Leipzig executive brings an insider’s knowledge to the deal and that might prove pivotal. If Sesko indeed prefers United, fans will be watching closely to see whether the club can get this deal over the line quickly.
There is always risk with young strikers, especially at high valuations. But if United truly believe in Sesko’s ceiling, the €80 million price tag could eventually look justified. For now, all eyes are on the striker’s decision.
