Ruben Amorim is hoping to have Noussair Mazraoui back at his disposal in time for Sunday’s trip to Anfield.

The full-back has not played for Manchester United since their win over Chelsea on September 20, missing out against both Brentford and Sunderland prior to the break.

Mazraoui also entered the term injured, having missed the majority of pre-season, which meant he was ruled out of the opening two Premier League fixtures before returning to make a five-minute cameo in the closing stages of the side’s win over Burnley on August 30.

As a result, he has been limited to only two league starts and 132 minutes of action in total.

According to a new report from Samuel Luckhurst this afternoon, United have been ‘encouraged’ by the player’s recovery after conducting further assessments on his condition this week.

Over the break, Mazraoui did report to Morocco’s training camp but didn’t feature in their double-header of World Cup qualifiers, instead completing a medical assessment and working on his recovery with his nation.

Mazraoui could make the matchday squad for Liverpool contest

He returned to Carrington at the start of the week and is expected to join in with the first-team’s training sessions when the rest of the squad have concluded their respective international duties.

Owen Hargreaves once poured praise on Mazraoui by claiming he is ‘amazing every time he plays’, so you can imagine Amorim will be desperate to utilise his talents for such a high-stakes contest this weekend.

Elsewhere, Lisandro Martinez remains sidelined whilst he continues his rehabilitation from an anterior cruciate ligament tear.

It’s thought he may be deemed fit enough to get involved in the action after the November break, perhaps in time for the clash with Everton on Monday, November 24.
