Man United target left-back from rival Premier League club to replace Shaw | OneFootball

Manchester United have added Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson to their transfer shortlist, according to Football Insider. The USMNT left-back has been linked with top clubs in the past, including Liverpool and Manchester City, and now Man United have joined the race to sign him.

Although the Red Devils already have players like Patrick Dorgu and Tyrell Malacia who are similar to Robinson, they are still targeting a move for the Fulham left-back.

Dorgu is used in a more advanced role where he has performed well this season while Malacia’s long term future at the club is highly uncertain.

That is where Robinson comes in who is going to be a natural replacement of Shaw and looking at his playing style, he is someone who can help the Red Devils on both ends of the pitch.

Man United could face competition from Liverpool

The Merseyside club targeted a move for Robinson last summer before eventually signing Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

However, with Andy Robertson coming towards the end of his career at Anfield, they may revive interest in Robinson to provide competition for Kerkez.

Robinson is known not only for his defensive work rate but also for his attacking runs and crosses in the box, something both Man United and Liverpool can use well considering how they play.

Even though Robinson is happy at Fulham, he would jump at the opportunity to play for a top club like Man United or Liverpool if given the opportunity.

Red Devils are planning for a busy summer window

The Premier League giants will have several issues to address in the transfer market this year.

Man United are expected to target midfielders this year due to the impending departure of Casemiro.

An attacking midfielder could also be on their agenda to add more depth and quality to the squad.

With the likes of Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford soon to be leaving the club permanently, a wide attacker might also catch their attention.

Shaw has been at the club for around a decade and United now feel that it is the right time to replace him in the squad with a more younger and Premier League experienced option.
