A trio of Premier League clubs have touched base with the board at La Liga champions Barcelona, over a potential deal for a member of the latter’s goalkeeper ranks.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Marc-André ter Stegen as the player in question.
Shot-stopper Ter Stegen is for his part of course condemned to a spell on the sidelines at present. This comes after the German was forced under the knife to repair a long-term back complaint.
Ter Stegen is expected to return to fitness late in November, with a view to being available for selection from January.
Game-time, however, is considered highly unlikely to be available to the 33-year-old in Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad, following the summer arrival of Joan García from Espanyol.
Ahead of next summer’s World Cup, Ter Stegen is in turn expected to take a six-month loan exit into serious consideration.
And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media this weekend is anything to go by, the goalkeeper should not be short on suitors.
As per a report from Sport:
‘Interest is high in the Premier League, where several top teams could add goalkeepers in the winter market. Newcastle, Tottenham and Manchester United have consulted Barça for Ter Stegen and Monaco maintain their interest.’
